Master Bedroom Reveal with eSaleRugs

Left and Level Bedroom

I’m baaaack!! The last few months have been a whirlwind of overwhelming change, and I’m so sorry that I’ve been neglecting this tiny corner of the Internet.  But I’m thrilled to let you know that major transitions are happening over here, and you’ll be seeing much more of me and lots of new content on Left & Level! To kick us off, I’m sharing a part of our home that’s never been seen before: our master bedroom!

Left and Level

Truth be told, when we moved in, our bedroom design was near the very bottom of the to do list.  As a family on a budget, we prioritized finishing the common living areas so that everyone could enjoy them.  But eventually, we grew tired of sleeping in a room with just a mattress and storage boxes for nightstands, and decided to invest a little into our own space.  And the inspirational catalyst behind our master bedroom design? THIS pretty number from eSaleRugs:

I’ve always been a huge fan of eSaleRugs and their GINORMOUS selection of vintage Persians, kilims, and Moroccan beauties, so when I had the opportunity to partner with them and found the perfect Moroccan wool rug for our bedroom, my design senses (yes, I had to fight my nerdy urge to say my “spidey senses”) kicked into high gear.

Our bedroom wish list was long and a little contradictory.  We wanted a calming, stylish retreat, but also a space that was practical because if we are going to spend 1/3 of our life in bed, there are bound to be messes, right?  A rug that was soft underfoot but not crazy shaggy as to hold every dropped crumb and particle prisoner for life.  And decent storage was a must since our closet space is limited! (But did I already mention that we wanted a stylish, minimalist room?)

My motto is always to invest in large, neutral pieces so you can continue to work with your foundation as your style evolves.  Our vintage Moroccan rug is neutral enough so that I have the freedom to change out colors and decor until my heart’s content, it plays nicely with our mid century nightstands (which are actually dressers for extra storage), and it has the perfect pile (it can be a challenge to find an authentic Moroccan wool rug that isn’t shagalicious 😉 ).

To show you where we came from with this room:

Aaaand even earlier, just before we purchased our home:

We’ve come a long way, but I’m not finished with this room yet! There are still more pieces that will be trickling in during the next couple of months (think seating) that I can’t wait to share.  I threw together this temporary little corner in the meantime, and the husband is super excited for yet another reading nook (that man wants a reading chair in every single room hah!)

If you like our vintage rug be sure to check out eSaleRug’s Antique section for more vintage rug finds, and I’ll be sharing all the sources next, so if you have any questions about our room be sure to let me know in the comments or on Instagram!

*This post is sponsored by eSaleRugs, however, all opinions are my own (and it was easy to rave because this rug is flipping amazing!)

Thanks for reading!

Thank you so much, sweet Kimmy! It feels good to have it decluttered! (and didn’t you just love our window treatments pre-makeover? They were designer 😉 lol)

Thank you, Andrea! The charcoal stripe pillows in the back are from Etsy shop – The Ivory Gull and the rest of the pillows are also from Etsy at Myhavenhome.

Hey, your room is lovely, our room is similar as in the ‘before’ picture darkness. What did you do to make it so much lighter and brighter?

Thank you, Jolene! Removing the old shutters and repainting the walls white helped tremendously – now we have the glass window exposed and just use the sheers for privacy as needed. The difference in lighting is probably a little exaggerated as I photographed the ‘after’ shots during the time of day when this room gets the most natural sunlight, but painting/new window treatments definitely made a difference. 🙂
