4 Ways to Style Your Nightstand

www.leftandlevel.com 4 Ways to Style Your NightstandA thoughtfully curated nightstand is a crucial piece of a well designed bedroom – an area to infuse a little personality and warmth in an otherwise utilitarian room full of furniture. But can you really achieve a magazine worthy bedside table in your own home…. that actually works for everyday life? I say YES!

As we all know, at the end of the day bedside tables are also a dumping ground for phone chargers, water bottles, glasses, jewelry, etc which is why I believe in simplistic styling with beautiful AND functional ways to contain the visual clutter.  I’ve put together 4 shoppable options for styling your own nightstand + a bonus round of perfectly paired beds and textiles in case you are feeling inspired to tackle a total bedroom refresh!

So without further ado…

You can shop by clicking directly on the item in the images or the links below each round up!

1: Bed // 2: Pillow // 3: Lumbar // 4: Throw // 5: Dresser // 6: Lamp // 7: Frame // 8: Print // 9: Vase // 10: Bowl // 11: Rug

I seldom design a space without including some type of natural greenery. While fresh stems and real potted plants are lovely, there are also some great faux alternatives out there like these branches to keep things low maintenance.

When you have adequate space to do so, consider small dressers instead of exclusively ‘nightstands’. The added storage is always welcome – just be sure to pay attention to the height and how it relates to the top of your mattress. I find having a table top any higher than 4″ above the mattress can feel a bit awkward.

1: Headboard // 2: Pillow // 3: Pillow // 4: Pillow // 5: Throw // 6: Vessels // 7: Mirror // 8: Tray // 9: Lamp // 10: Nightstand // 11: Rug

My little trick to keeping table tops clean and protected from everyday wear is through the use of a flat stone tray like this one (usually found in the kitchen section with the cheese boards). They are low profile and still decorative when empty but perfect for setting sweating water glasses or bulky phones down on.

1: Bed // 2: Pillow // 3: Pillow // 4: Pillow // 5: Throw // 6: Wood Beads // 7: Faux Plant // 8: Lamp // 9: Candle // 10: Nightstand // 11: Rug

Layering books, beads and candles (I’m currently LOVING the new candle scents from this local shop) will always create a casual, lived in vibe. Be sure to group book spines by color. If you are working with books you already own but having trouble finding coordinating colors, try removing the book sleeve or display them with the pages facing out for a neutral look.

1: Bed // 2: Rug (Headboard) // 3: Pillow // 4: Throw // 5: Nightstand // 6: Sconce // 7: Frames // 8: Clock // 9: Faux Plant // 10: Bowl // 11: Rug

This was a fun one to design! Obviously sconces are a great way to free up the nightstand for essentials if you are working with a smaller space, and whether you are a renter or someone that’s just not ready to take on the electrical work, these plug-in lights with wire covers still look expensive and intentional. Now can we talk about this bed for a moment?! I’ve been known to drape vintage fabric and rugs over headboards as an affordable way to refresh a bedroom, but this Ikea bed is literally made just for that. I’m envisioning headboards with rugs, fabrics, leathers – if you enjoy switching up your decor as much as I do, this customizable bed frame is a must have!

Now that I’m seriously fighting the urge to buy every single thing in this post, I’m off to refresh our own bedrooms (don’t worry husband, I’ll just be shopping our own house for now ;P).  I’d love to hear which round up is your favorite.
