Edit: Apparently, I never hit publish on this Fall bedroom reveal in a previous year (if that’s not indicative of life right now, I don’t know what is, hah!) Since we are approaching another autumn season and I still really love the way this room looked, I figured why not share some pretty views:
We added vertical shadow gap to the headboard wall to give this blank box some character. I considered going with a dark, moody color here (there are just so many beautiful examples out there) but in the end, we matched the shiplap to our existing trim color: SW Snowbound and left the textured walls SW Reserved White so the paneling really popped. Since this room gets relatively low natural light through a good portion of the day, I didn’t want our guests to feel like we threw them in a dungeon. (Kelsey from the future here: It’s been a couple of years and I am still very happy with kept the lap light in there).
We also installed a new ceiling fan with a much smaller profile in a washed white wood tone to blend in with the ceiling. We’re in Texas, so as much as I love the look of a decorative light fixture in the bedroom, having a ceiling fan was non-negotiable.
I’m currently loving this hand knotted wool rug from my friends at Loloi. Between the subtle tribal pattern and charcoal + olive + bone tones, it adds just enough texture and interest while still remaining neutral.
